A Form of Extraction began in response to a major personal data breach involving a large South Korean e-commerce platform. The incident prompted me to reclaim five years of my purchase records from the platform, turning data originally collected and retained by a commercial system into the material for the work. Through the materialisation of this personal purchasing data into generative digital sculptures, the project traces a self that has been extracted, separated, and replicated within digital systems. It questions the extent to which data can embody human identity and become a new form of portraiture in the digital age.
