Wireless earbuds have become a fast growing source of electronic waste. The small lithium-ion batteries wear out after a few years, losing their ability to hold a full charge and cannot be repaired. OVO adopts a Design for Repair philosophy that places repairability at the centre of the product. The outcome was a modular earbud system where key components can be easily replaced. OVO integrates replaceable batteries, accessible disassembly, and user experience to enable product care by everyday users. OVO encourages a broader cultural change moving away from disposable e-waste towards responsible consumption by making repair simple, intuitive and accessible.
